Major League Gaming (MLG) will host its Spring Championship in Anaheim, CA. From June 28-30, thousands of fans will descend upon the Anaheim Convention Center and millions more will watch online as hundreds of the world’s best video game players compete in a three-day, action packed tournament.
MLG has now confirmed the three featured games: League of Legends, Call of Duty®: Black Ops II on Xbox 360® and StarCraft® II: Heart of the Swarm™. StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm and Call of Duty will both include Open Bracket tournaments. Competitor, Spectator and VIP passes are available now at http://store.majorleaguegaming.com.
The Games, Players and Prizing
League of Legends: $30,000 in prizes; First place - $20,000
The Spring Championship will include the conclusion of the League of Legends North American Online Qualifier. The final four teams advancing from a 64-team online qualifier will compete for a chance at $30,000 in prizes and the first place winner receives $20,000 and a spot in the in the LCS Season 4 Spring Promotion Tournament. Additionally, the event will feature the North American League Championship Series (LCS), with all eight teams from the North American LCS playing three action-packed matches.
Call of Duty®: Black Ops II on Xbox 360®: $50,000 in prizes; First place - $20,000
The highly acclaimed franchise returns to the Pro Circuit at the Spring Championship where up to 128 teams will compete in an Open Bracket to secure placement in the Championship Bracket. Teams can purchase passes to compete in the open bracket online.
The top 12 teams from the Open Bracket will advance to the Championship Bracket where they will join the top eight teams from the MLG Winter Championship and four teams that qualified online during MLG’s Championship Bracket Qualifiers to compete for a chance at $50,000 in prizes. Nearly all Championship Bracket matches will be broadcast live via one stream.
StarCraft® II: Heart of the Swarm™: $25,000 in prizes; First place - $10,000
The Spring Championship will feature a World Championship Series (WCS) Tier 1, 128-Player StarCraft II®: Heart of the Swarm™ double-elimination, open bracket tournament with $25,000 in prizes and a first place prize of $10,000. Passes to compete in the open bracket are available at http://store.majorleaguegaming.com.
In addition, the top 16 finishers will receive player ranking points in the WCS. The points earned at MLG Spring Championship will impact the year-long chase for seeds at the StarCraft II World Championship at BlizzCon®.
